Hair Transplantation
Hair transplant surgery is a type of surgery that is made to enable hair growth in areas with scars, or thin or no hair. The procedure usually follows these stages:
- Before the surgery, personal hair analysis is performed and the problem area is localized.
- The surgeon removes from the donor area the grafts to be transplanted into the problem area.
- Then the surgeon opens channels so that grafts can be transferred into the problem area in the proper angle, direction and frequency.
- Next, the surgeon and his team transfer the hair follicles into these channels.
Depending on the size of the transplant, hair transplant surgery takes about five to twelve hours. Hair transplantation is a type of surgery and it should be performed by highly qualified doctors in hygienic and fully equipped clinics.
After the surgery, the scalp is bandaged. After three days, bandage is removed for the first wash. Crusts will fall out in eight to fifteen days spontaneously. Clients are not recommended to wear too tight caps, hats, etc, for one week after surgery.
Within a month, the transplanted hair will completely fall out, but the new growth will be noticed nearly on the hundredth day of transplantation. However, whole hair growth and the adaptation to the new tissue will take place in eight to twelve months. During this period, all the advice given by the surgeon should be followed and the transplanted area should be treated gently while washing. The patient should avoid a hit or impact to the transplanted area.

What are the techniques for the transplant?
There are two primary techniques for hair transplantation currently in use: Follicular Unite Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unite Extraction (FUE). With FUT, the surgeon removes a strip of hair from the the donor area, divides the strip of removed scalp into tiny grafts under a microscope and sews the scalp closed. With FUE, which is a more recent and comfortable technique, the surgeon removes hair follicles one by one, with no stitches required and no linear scar left to heal.
Compared to other classical techniques, the FUE process has a faster healing time with less tissue loss. It is not a surgery so it causes no pain, infection, wounds or scars. However, there will be tiny puncture marks that tend to heal by themselves in a few days after the procedure. One of the best side of the FUE process is that the direction and the angle of the transplanted grafts can be determined by the surgeon, in this way giving the patient a very natural look.

After the Hair Plantation
One month after hair transplantation, you are not allowed to go into a sauna or pool. Especially patients that had a transplantation in summer should keep the hair transplanted area away from the sun.
